OML Represents at NCUR 2017
Four of our undergrads had abstracts accepted AND received travel awards to present at the National Conference on Undergraduate Research (NCUR) at the University of Memphis in April!! Congrats, Elizabeth, Harsha, Michael, and Sophie!
Updates: 2016
Once again it’s been exciting here in OML! Please scroll through our posts to see everything we’ve had going on.
Some highlights:
- Jacque and Nicholas went to Belgium to talk about the influence of exercise and diet on blood perfusion.
- We participated in the first annual National Biomechanics Day!
- We once again partnered with The Engineering Place to teach middle school students about bone repair.
- Andy gave a podium talk at ORS.
- Jon, Hui, and Carolyn all passed their prelims!
- Austin, Amir, and Chris graduated!
We took another group photo (and all accidentally wore shades of blue/green or gray/black). We swear we didn’t coordinate outfits that morning!

Here’s to a great 2017!
BMES 2016
Jacque, Jon and Nicholas all travelled to Minneapolis for the annual Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES) meeting. Both Jon and Nicholas were selected for talks, and they did a great job!

Carolyn Passes her Prelim!
Congratulations to Carolyn, who passed her Prelim and is now a PhD Candidate!
Jacque joins Carolina ADMIRES as a mentor
Jacque has recently volunteered to act as a mentor to two local students who are interested in STEM through the Carolina ADMIRES (Assisting in Development and Mentoring an Innovative Research Experience in Science) program. The program is designed for 8th and 9th grade students who are interested in careers in STEM.
Hui Passes her Prelim!
Congratulation to Hui, who passed her prelim and is now officially a Doctoral Candidate. That’s two prelims in two days for OML, how exciting!
Jon Passes his Prelim!
Congrats to Jon, who has passed his Prelim and is now officially a doctoral candidate!
Congratulations to our 2016 graduates
Amir, Austin, and Chris all graduated from the UNC/NCSU Joint Department of biomedical engineering today. We’re so happy for them, but they will be sorely missed in the lab.

Harsha selected for summer OUR grant
Harsha Pinnamaraju’s research proposal was selected for a Summer Research Grant for the NCSU Office of Undergraduate Research. Congratulations Harsha!
